The Ultimate Self Care Checklist for Moms

C-Section Extras (From My Own Experience)

  • Postpartum Binder or Support Belt

Helps support your incision when moving or standing up.

  • High-Waisted Underwear and Pants

Regular waistbands can rub right on the incision — high-rise is more comfortable.

  • Pillow for the Car Ride Home

Hold it against your stomach to soften bumps and turns.

  • Slip-On Shoes

No bending down required, and comfort is everything.

Since packing makes such a big difference in recovery, I also put together a Hospital Bag Checklist for C-Section Moms. It covers what to bring for yourself, your partner, and baby, along with a few extras that made my stay so much easier.

What the Hospital Provides (Save the Space!)

  • Pads, mesh underwear, peri bottle, and ice packs
  • Basic diapers and wipes for baby
  • Hospital blankets and hats for baby
  • Basic toiletries (though I prefer my own)

Unless you have allergies or strong preferences, you can skip packing these and use what’s provided.

Final Thoughts

Packing my hospital bag the second time around feels so much calmer. I know what I’ll actually use, what’s just nice-to-have, and what I don’t need to bother with at all. My advice? Start early, keep it simple, and don’t stress if you forget something — hospitals have the essentials. With the right bag, you’ll be ready to focus on what really matters: meeting your new baby.
